Air soft popularity will never waver considering younger generations are attracted to the competition and the new air soft rifle technology. Air soft is exciting for both the participants and the spectators due to the various activities and competition planned by air soft hobbyists. The air soft gun manufacturers have made sure to keep the interest alive by producing guns that resemble the real thing.
Despite the growing popularity of Automatic airsoft guns though, many airsoft enthusiasts still opt for the traditional but reliable Spring Airsoft gun.
The spring air soft guns cannot fire in rapid succession for it is a manual gun relying on constant cocking from the shooter. A person with a spring air soft gun may be a liability in war games because it takes time to fire a lot of bullets against a large number of opponents. Despite this setback, there are still air soft buffs that prefer playing with a spring air soft gun.
One of the reasons for their popularity is that many beginners use this type of gun to practice on their marksmanship and stance. They are easier to operate and easy on the pocket too. If a competition manages to last more than an hour or two, the chances of the shooter with a spring air soft gun surviving and winning gets higher as competitors who utilize electric air soft guns and gas powered guns may run out of batteries and propellants. Weather conditions also play a factor in air soft competition because moisture and cold weather can disable an electric air soft gun and freeze gas canisters rendering gas powered guns ineffective. The pressurized canisters can be a liability and at the same time a potential health hazard for those who use gas-powered air soft guns.
Still, the decision as to which type of airsoft gun to use depends on one’s personal taste and/or strategy. Spring air soft guns will always have a place in the air soft industry.
